A CIMPA School on Combinatorial Structures in Geometry, Graphs, and Symmetry
Universidad de Costa Rica, San José, Costa Rica
July 27-August 7, 2026
Over the last half a century, Algebra, Combinatorics, and Discrete Geometry have undergone transformations due, in part, to the connections each of these areas have to other fields and the growth of computational approaches used in the study of theoretical mathematics. These areas are closely intertwined, with various algebraic, combinatorial, and geometric objects playing pivotal roles. This CIMPA school aims to highlight the interactions between these areas and emphasize that combinatorics is more than a tool, but a research area that creates bridges.
The Escuela Costarricense de Combinatoria is organized with the support and inspiration of the Encuentro Colombiano de Combinatoria, a long-standing initiative that has promoted combinatorics, strengthened regional research networks, and shaped the academic trajectories of hundreds of young mathematicians. The Escuela reflects a continuity of mission and a shared commitment to cultivating a vibrant, collaborative, and inclusive combinatorics community in Latin America, the United States, and beyond.
